Non-government organizations (NGOs) contribute to Georgia’s culture of conservation.
The Georgia Land Conservation Program (GLCP) awards low-interest loans to NGOs and land trusts for projects that permanently preserve conservation lands and protect water quality. Organizations may borrow funds to acquire conservation land or easements. Loan proceeds may also pay some due diligence costs associated with the project. Three types of loans are available:
- Fee-simple conservation land purchases
- Conservation easement purchases from a landowner
- Bridge loans
The Georgia Land Conservation Revolving Loan Fund is managed by the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority.
